2: Bruised and Broken

It all began with my despair
A wound unhealed by time.
It hurt so bad, I turned to you,
Not second guessing why.

Your answer had some sweet content,
Something I can't deny.
Then and there I got fond of you
Certain it wasn't a lie.

Reckless, I dared to spill the beans
My heart was on my sleeve.
Expecting magic to unbruise the bruised,
I thought you would not leave.

Fun as it was, all had to end
That sweetness had to fade.
A coward I was, I spent sleepless nights
Wishing that you'd stayed.

Instead of fixing my broken heart,
You made it fall apart.
And there was nothing else to do
But stop, erase, restart.
